In today's rapidly evolving world, it is crucial for businesses and homeowners to keep up with the latest electrical safety regulations. Our company can upgrade any old fuse boards to the 18th Edition, upgrading every board with RCBOs (Residual Current Circuit Breakers with Overcurrent Protection) and SPDs (Surge Protection Devices). On this page, we will discuss the importance of upgrading to the 18th Edition and why you should choose our company for your fuse board installation needs.

Upgrading your fuse board to the 18th Edition brings several benefits, including enhanced safety and improved electrical performance. Here are some key advantages:

1. Enhanced Safety

The 18th Edition places a strong emphasis on safety, with specific requirements aimed at reducing the risk of electric shock and fire hazards. By upgrading to the latest standards, you can ensure that your electrical installation meets the highest safety standards, protecting both people and property.

2. Improved Protection

Upgrade to the 18th Edition wiring regulations with our company and enjoy enhanced safety, improved protection, and peace of mind. Our boards contain RCBOs and SPDs (Optional) which are essential components of modern fuse boards. RCBOs help protect against neutral-to-earth faults and prevent fires, switching off your electrics in less than 0.4 seconds. A surge protective device (SPD) is designed to protect electrical systems and equipment from surge events by limiting transient voltages and diverting surge currents. Surges can originate externally, most intensely by lightning, or internally by the switching of electrical loads.

3. Compliance with Regulations

Staying compliant with the 18th Edition is not just a matter of safety; it is also a legal requirement. Failure to comply with the regulations can result in penalties and invalidate your insurance coverage. By upgrading to the latest standards, you can ensure that your electrical installation meets all legal requirements.

Why Choose Aberdeen Rewires for Fuse Board Installations?

When it comes to upgrading your fuse board to the 18th Edition, choosing the right company is crucial. Here's why you should choose our company:

1. Expertise and Experience

At our company, we prioritize quality and customer satisfaction. We use only high-quality materials and products from trusted manufacturers to ensure the longevity and reliability of your electrical installation. Additionally, our work is backed by comprehensive warranties for your peace of mind for up to 2 years

3. Competitive Pricing

All our domestic fuse board changes are £450 if 8 or fewer circuits. This includes a new consumer unit with RCBOs for every breaker. Most companies use split-way boards which are cheaper but only contain 2 RCDs which have 6 MCB circuits on them so if the RCD trips it will turn off the 6 circuits. That's why you should choose RCBOS for all breakers, this is an RCD and MCB into one so if the RCBO breaker detects a residual fault it will only trip one circuit and not all 6. See the reference photos below for more clarity

FREE EICR INCLUDED!! - For all landlords and homeowners we will do a free EICR afterward as a thank-you for choosing us. Other companies carry out an EIC after a consumer unit install, but these can not be used when selling your house or when renting it out as it's not an Electrical installation condition Report (EICR).

Optional extras:

RCDs and MCBs

Vs

ALL RCBOs

New tails at a £50 extra. - This is only required if your original tails are 16mm as, to comply with 18th edition iring regulations they need to be 25mm with 16mm earth.

SPD - At £40 they provide peace of mind to prevent damage to your electronics. A surge in power can damage your TV and other appliances to never work again. SPDs are not mandatory but the customer should take it upon themselves to do their research before choosing not to include one.

AFDDs - will have to be installed if you like in a skyscraper to comply with the regulations these are in place of your RCBOs but aren't required for your usual house or flat.
